Biography

Marcel graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in economics and then graduated from Law School in 1982. He joined the firm as an associate lawyer in 1983. Marcel became a partner in 1987 to create the firm of Smith Neufeld Jodoin.

Over the years, Marcel litigated all manner of cases – family law, criminal law, civil disputes, and insurance claims, including MPI prior to the introduction of “no-fault” auto insurance. As his practice evolved his litigation focus narrowed to be more centered on civil cases. In addition to his legal skills, Marcel also had a passion for technological advances. Marcel has been a guest speaker at the Law Society of Manitoba on a number of topics including law office management and computerization and was a member of the Manitoba Bar Association.

Marcel has been a member of the board of directors of a number of charitable and non-profit organizations.

Marcel retired from Law on June 30, 2026.
