Appointments: 85 PTH 12 North, Steinbach
I was called to the bar in 2002, after having articled at a Winnipeg firm. I practiced in Winnipeg until 2003, when I joined a small Steinbach firm. I have been with Smith Neufeld Jodoin LLP in Steinbach since January of 2008.
I graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law in 2001. Prior to that I was in the Agricultural Economics program at that same university before studying law.
My current practice includes civil and administrative litigation, as well as real estate and wills and estate matters.
Since May of 2014 I have served as a Bencher with the Law Society of Manitoba. I have served on a number of committees, and sat as an adjudicator at hearings of the Discipline Committee, the Complaints Investigation Committee, and the Admissions and Education Committee. From May 1, 2017 to August, 2019, I acted as the chair of the Manitoba Health Appeal Board, a quasi-judicial body that hears appeals regarding certain specific health care system issues. I have previously been an adjudicator with the federal Pipeline Arbitration Committee, which hears cases arbitrating compensation issues regarding pipelines. From 2008 – 2011 I served as an adjudicator hearing appeals of benefit applications as a member of Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal.
I live in Grunthal with my wife, Allison, son Liam, and daughters Avery and Sawyer. I have participated in a variety of community organizations on a volunteer basis, including a personal care home; church and sports related groups; coaching minor hockey; the occasional political endeavour; and was formerly a member of the Board for Providence University College and Seminary.
