Join Our Team

We at SNJ think this is a great place to work. The people we work with, and the clients we work for, make us this way.  Although we are one of the largest firms in Manitoba based outside of Winnipeg, we still cling to all of the benefits of a “small town” local firm. We pay competitively, have first class office facilities, utilize leading technologies, and offer free parking as some of our benefits.

In a period of uncertain global economic times we are thankful that our firm’s history and continued growth demonstrate our stability and strength. We employ a large staff, and continue in our commitment to serving the ongoing and changing needs of the people in the communities that surround us.

We are always looking for energetic and self-motivated lawyers and legal assistants to join our team in almost all areas. If you are looking for a career where you can feel good about working hard as a part of a team while continuing to learn and advance, and if you are serious about finding out more about the opportunities we currently have, please review the current postings or contact our human resources department.

Articling Students

In Manitoba, articling students are assigned to a principal lawyer who has the primary responsibility of monitoring the student throughout the articling year. However, we attempt to provide our articling students with a very wide range of exposure to various areas of law.

Our articling students have assisted in court, conducted meetings on real estate matters, drafted documents for agreements, court pleadings, Wills and Powers of Attorney, and many other types of legal documents.

Our lawyers regularly meet to discuss various matters, and to assist each other with any problem matters any of us may be having, and our articling students are part of those meetings.

Our salaries for articling students (and associate lawyers) are competitive with Winnipeg firms. We also offer legal and administrative support, a private office fully equipped with state of the art technology, and of course, free parking! It is our goal to mentor and retain all articling students should they wish to continue to practice with us.

We believe that our firm is an exciting and rewarding place to article, and would encourage you to ask any of our lawyers or articling students about articling with us. Or, for more information, please contact us at [email protected].

Support Staff and Legal Assistants

The support staff at Smith Neufeld Jodoin LLP are the heart and soul of our team. Many of our support staff work closely with each other in a team environment, while others work more independently.

Our support staff range from receptionists and file indexing personnel to very experienced real estate paralegals and their assistants, corporate paralegals, and personal legal  assistants for each lawyer. We also employ information systems, accounting, and management staff.

We are continuously looking for ambitious and enthusiastic staff who would like to join our team. If you are interested in working in an exciting and challenging environment, please submit your letter of application and resume to us at [email protected].

Summer Students

Smith Neufeld Jodoin LLP often employs summer students. Summer students may include aspiring lawyers still in law school, or recent graduates from high school who are interested in some exposure to the legal profession, and who may one day wish to be a legal assistant, a paralegal, or a lawyer. Joining our team as a summer student provides an opportunity to work with experienced lawyers and staff, and helps to make a decision as to whether you would like a career with us in the future. Depending upon the aspirations of our summer students, we involve our students in many types of matters. For further details and information about our various summer student possibilities, please contact us at [email protected].

Legal Assistant Practicum

Smith Neufeld Jodoin LLP accommodates Legal Assistant Practicums when possible, many of which have lead to permanent positions on the team. If you are currently enrolled in a Legal Assistant program at a recognized college and are interested in a future as a legal assistant with SNJ, please contact our human resources department at [email protected].
